Book Signing at the Detroit Shoppe

Once Detroit started its post-industrial decline, photographers began arriving in droves from all over the world, primarily focusing there cameras on the so called, "ruins of Detroit." Ruin photographs became the rage, but a minority of talented photographers have steadfastly been telling deeper and more complex stories that reveal the diversities of a city in transition.

This Saturday, June 15, from 1pm to 3pm, a group of Detroit photographers whose work has been shown in recent exhibitions at the Detroit Institute of Arts, will be signing their books at the Detroit Shoppe in Somerset Mall. They will be joined by Nancy Barr, the Associate Curator of Prints, Drawings and Photographs at the DIA.

Photographers will include Bill Rauhaser, Dave Jordano, Russ Marshall, Michelle Andonian, Scott Hocking, Corine Vermeulen, Nicola Kuperus, and Mary Desjarlais, author of Bill Rauhauser-20th Century Photography in Detroit.
