The Alley Project

The Alley Project, or TAP, is an initiative of Young Nation, a small, community-based youth group in southwest Detroit, that occupies the alley between Avis and Falcon Street. It's founder, Erik Howard, is a photographer and community activist, who created the environment to support the development and creative growth of neighborhood youth living in the area. TAP is a unique space, that allows kids to be in a safe environment where art is inspired, created, and displayed, alongside neighbors, business owners, and other artists, who willingly provide the necessary resources, to build reciprocal relationships that benefit both urban youth and the surrounding community.
